Localizing destructive patterns of social behaviour in one individual is rarely warranted.

The term "workplace bully" has been used to describe some office and factory behaviours that are not effective to develop individual capital. Whether a word should be used that implies physical intimidation is very controversial. this wiki will not imply that if no workplace violence is involved. For user bosses to coerce is the nature of private business and employment, so it's extremely doubtful that it would be valid to distinguish these behaviours in general. They may be a way of detecting boss-like behaviour in a subordinate, which would be rewarded if they have other talents, not if they don't.

The "types" of such bully that are sometimes asserted are:

  • sniper - takes the shot from a distance, typically in a group
  • steamroller
  • timebomb
  • micromanager - but what boss isn't?

The ontological metaphors used are extremely violent and imply bombing, crushing and shooting. While not treating people like best resources reduces human capital and limits ability to create value, using these terms may do more harm than good, especially if they become used as labels, like " troll" under sysop vigilantism.
