DAV variant REDIRECT as defined in RFC 4437 [1] specifies "Redirect Reference Resource" specification to let clients to remotely edit resources that return HTTP 301 and HTTP 302 redirections.

In wiki protocol REDIRECT has an identical definition, but a permanent redirect - which in HTTP would be accomplished with verb:delete - is the only way to remove a URI completely.
